If it weren't for Yaseen and my uncle, I would hate life."  Amina's Story of Survival in War

Laughter stronger than war

Amina Al-Dahman, 9, and Yaseen Al-Dahman, 10, are cousins and close friends.

Shy smiles, shared pain

Selling joy, not toys

Their families were forced to leave their homes in the Al-Shaja’ya neighborhood due to heavy Israeli bombing in Gaza. Sadly, at the end of December, the house next to theirs was bombed, resulting in Amina's father being killed, leaving her without a dad.

Under the tree of hope

‏Amina found solace with her uncle, who is Yaseen's father, and he took care of her. She now lives with him and his family, and spends her time with Yaseen selling simple tools and toys in the courtyard of Al-Ahli Arab Hospital.
