Muhammad Hijazi, 7 years old, from Jabalia in northern Gaza. He survived multiple airstrikes and was displaced with his family to the south, fleeing death. During the ceasefire, Muhammad tried to live like any other child — playing, just being a kid. While playing one day, he came across something strange.

Muhammad is hodling a rectangular piece of broken mirror, pointing it toward his face.

He didn’t know it was leftover from the war — until it exploded.

A person holds a phone showing a photo of Muhammad before the injury smiling on the beach.

The injury was devastating:
Muhammad lost his vision completely.
One eye was removed, and the other can no longer see.

Muhammad is smilling

Today, Muhammad sees nothing — no light, no colors, not even his own face.
He’s been deprived of everything… even the light.

Inside his destroyed living room, Muhammad plays in a circle with other children. A girl sits on a torn piece of sofa, while bags filled with clothes and belongings pile up on the other side. With no walls, the scene reveals bombed homes behind them.

His father, Abu Muhammad, is doing everything he can to get him out of Gaza for medical treatment abroad , hoping doctors might be able to save what’s left of his eye.

Hoping… that Muhammad might see again, even if only with one eye.
